Installation
with Kinetic sclupture, biomaterials,
and performance / 2026
When we move, our body parts move either through muscular force or by relying on gravity. When we are skilled in movement, we can consciously release bodily tension and thus control and manipulate our own bodies. Yet the body is also clumsy, prone to error, imperfection, and fatigue.
This kinetic installation incorporates everyday synthetic objects alongside materials made from agar and gelatine. These biodegradable materials resonate with the body as a temporary, decaying form of matter, particularly with the figure of the zombie, which in my practice functions as a speculative, posthuman persona.
The creation of the body movement in this installation is based on sports physics, advised by Professor Nobuyuki Sakai (Yamaguchi University, Japan), through the Fundamentalz programme 2025.
The installation was built in the SODAS 2123 project space, as the outcome of her three-month SODAS 2123 residency.
